Hello and Happy July!
Continuing with my new tradition of sharing a periodic round-up of my latest releases, projects, appearances, and any other updates you might have missed. If any of you are new here, welcome! The goal is for this to be a quarterly update but the last one was in December so … we’ll see how this goes.
If you’d like to receive more regular updates on my work (and on being a writer, an educator, a snake parent, and a human in general), please consider subscribing to my newsletter. I usually only send out one per month containing my latest news and something that’s been on my mind at the time. So, without further ado, let’s recap my last six months!
Aspects of Aelda duology is going out of print
Unfortunately I need to start with some complicated news: my Aspects of Aelda duology will no longer be published by Atthis Arts and will be going out of print as of July 31, 2026.
I’ve been mum about the goings-on with my publisher here, and mostly silent on social media until recently. The condensed but honest truth is that my editors were behaving in ways publicly and privately that I couldn’t condone, since before Castoff came out. I made a statement on Bluesky in June during the latest public debacle involving Atthis that captured my feelings pretty succinctly. (If you want to know more, I think the best place to start is my friend and colleague Jason Sanford’s column about the harassment he’s dealt with from individuals at Atthis.)
What does this mean for the books? Good question! My agent and I will be discussing next steps, but the reality is that they’ll likely be unavailable for some time. If you’d like a copy, they’ll still be available for sale through the rest of July, or readers in Canada can contact me directly. (If you happen to be in Halifax, Trident Books has a bunch!) And regardless, you can count on there being more Aelda in my future.
Kelestren’s Couriers for Draw Steel
Earlier last month, I published Kelestren’s Couriers, the first adventure in the To Futurity science fantasy series for Draw Steel. This new release, which introduces the original Gods of Futurity campaign setting, is designed for a party of four Level 1 heroes. However, it can also be used as a standalone adventure, convention scenario, or an intro to your very own Draw Steel campaign! What’s more is it comes with a bonus setting primer, complete with additional details on ancestries, classes and kits, plus an overview of Gods of Futurity to help with character creation.
When a mysterious broker approaches you with an offer to bring a box from Point A to Point B, no questions asked, and be rewarded, will you accept the responsibility? When will you start wondering what’s inside the box…and do you even want to find out?
Sound up your alley? Check Kelestren’s Couriers out on itch or DriveThruRPG!
The Expanse RPG is out now
In December 2025, Green Ronin Publishing released The Expanse Roleplaying Game: Transport Union Edition, a project I’m thrilled to have contributed to. If you’ve ever wanted to dive even deeper into James S.A. Corey’s The Expanse series and cover new ground, from participating in interplanetary politics between Earth, Mars, and the Belt, to witnessing the discovery of ancient alien technology, to travelling light-years away to explore new worlds, this RPG is for you.
The PDF edition is available now in the Green Ronin Online Store and on DriveThruRPG!
It’s World Snake Day, Everyone!
July 16th was World Snake Day, which is a great reason to pick up my first adventure for ICONS Superpowered Roleplaying, published by Ad Infinitum Adventures.
When the heroes are invited as guests of honour for World Snake Day, they’re in for a surprise from the Scalemaster, who doesn’t believe anyone could love snakes as much as he does! But turns out, his invasion of the vivarium is merely step one of his evil plan to exploit people’s fear of snakes and to turn World Snake Day into a day of sheer terror for the city. Can the superheroes prove themselves friends to save the serpentine and protect World Snake Day from total disaster?

Two podcast interviews
Last October, I had the pleasure of chatting with Nick Sampson on his podcast, Epic Realms. In this interview, I discussed a bit about how my writing got started, my introduction to RPGs in college, and how my experiences as a teacher influences my short fiction, novels, and even my game design. I also talked about my TEDx Talk on Dungeons and Dragons, youth, and learning, and the Aspects of Aelda duology.
This was such a fun time! If you want to give the interview a listen/watch, check it out here.
More recently, I appeared on an episode of the If This Goes On (Don’t Panic) podcast, where I talked with Alan Bailey about alien gods, characters with major personality shifts, magic, historical cycles, Hopepunk, messages in fiction, the challenges in con running, and more!
I had an amazing time with this one as well! You can give it a listen here.
